Packing should be simple, not stressful. At LIFT, we’ve made our baggage policy clear and easy to follow. No hidden fees, no confusing rules, just the essentials to help you travel smarter.

From your cabin bag allowance to checked bags for those longer trips, we’ve got every detail covered. Think of this as your quick, straightforward guide to LIFT baggage rules, plus how to manage your booking with LIFT like a pro.

Fare Types and What They Include

Each LIFT fare comes with a different baggage allowance. Here’s a quick look:

All fares include one personal item‚ like a slimline laptop bag OR handbag‚ that fits under the seat infront of you.

Don’t forget: Your cabin bag must fit in the overhead locker (up to 7 kg, max size: 56 x 36 x 23 cm). Cabin bags over the size or weight limit may need to be checked in at your cost.

Need a Checked Bag? It’s Easy!

Adding a checked bag with LIFT is simple and flexible. You can do it at any point:

  • During your flight booking: Just select how many checked bags you’d like to bring.
  • After booking: Use Manage Booking to add baggage any time before check-in.
  • At the airport: Speak to our check-in team if you need to add baggage on the day.

For peace of mind and guaranteed space, we always suggest adding your checked bag online in advance.

Sporting, Heavy or Fragile Items

We accept a variety of special items, including:

  • Musical instruments and sports equipment, provided they meet weight and size limits
  • Fragile items, which can be marked at check-in for careful handling
  • Heavy bags (between 23 kg and 32 kg) incur a R200 fee when paid at the airport
